Portfolio Analyst — Lending Operations (2–4 years)

Portfolio Analyst Hybrid (South Africa) | Full-time | Employed by Kula Kula builds and runs South African finance teams for international companies: accounting firms, lenders and growing businesses in the UK and Europe. You're employed by Kula in South Africa on a formal SA employment contract, and you work as a dedicated member of one international client's team.

About the client Our client is a UK-based property lender that provides short-term secured real estate finance, including bridging, refurbishment and development loans. They tailor funding to property investors and developers and hold themselves to rigorous credit and compliance standards. The role You'll make sure every loan is audited and monitored in line with its approved credit terms and the client's policies, from pre-completion through to maturity.

You'll review loan files, check pre-completion requirements, track post-completion and ongoing borrower obligations, and work closely with the UK team and external parties such as lawyers, funders and borrowers.

What you'll do

Pre-completion compliance Audit loan documentation and facility agreements against the terms the Credit Committee approved Confirm all Conditions Precedent (insurance, valuations, KYC) are met before disbursement Escalate discrepancies or missing items to managers or the legal team promptly Review funder documentation to confirm settlement statements and funding terms are accurate Post-completion review Audit executed loan files to confirm every document is signed, dated and complete Confirm security is registered with Companies House and the UK Land Registry within the required timeframes Keep loan files organised and compliant in internal systems, flagging exceptions and tracking them to resolution Ongoing monitoring Track Conditions Subsequent (planning approvals, project milestones, paydowns) in a compliance tracker Follow up with borrowers on outstanding obligations and escalate non-compliance to portfolio managers Monitor Companies House alerts for relevant entities and report significant changes Set up property sales alerts (such as Rightmove) and send weekly updates on market comparables Operational and portfolio support Keep internal platforms up to date (Airtable, Hypercore or client systems) Support staged drawdowns by checking pre-drawdown conditions are met Help draft offer extension letters, demand letters and instruction letters for valuers and solicitors Prepare pro-forma credit memos and contribute to portfolio reporting What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Strong attention to detail and good organisation Excellent written and spoken English An analytical mindset and solid financial literacy The ability to work independently and reliably Credit, lending, audit or compliance experience is a plus What you get Who employs you: Kula Staffing & Consulting is your legal employer.

You sign a South African employment contract, and PAYE and UIF are deducted and paid over in the normal way. You aren't an independent contractor and you don't invoice anyone. Pay: R20,000 – R40,000 per month gross, depending on experience. Hours: UK business hours, roughly 09:00–17:30 SA time. No night shifts. Where you work: Remotely from anywhere in South Africa, as long as you have reliable connectivity.

If a client engagement ends: your employment with Kula doesn't automatically end with it. We'll look to move you to another engagement. If none is available, the notice terms in your contract apply, and we'll tell you early rather than late. Leave: Statutory SA annual, sick and family responsibility leave, plus SA public holidays (unless stated otherwise).

Development: Full onboarding, process training, ongoing mentorship, and exposure to credit, compliance and real estate finance, with room to take on more as the team grows.
