Job description
School Nutrition Procurement Specialist REPORTS TO: Director of School Nutrition Program JOB OBJECTIVES: (Purpose of the position): To requisition and purchase supplies, equipment, materials, parts, and foods used in the School Nutrition program. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Functions essential to attaining job objectives): Strategic Goal Area I�Student Achievement
- Prepare student participation spreadsheets to use when allocating the amount of commodity foods to be delivered to each location. Strategic Goal Area II�Stakeholder Engagement and Loyalty
- Communicate effectively with School Nutrition Manager, Parents and School Administrators. Strategic Goal Area III�Efficient and Effective Operational Processes
- Receives, examines, and processes requisitions, prepares bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase.
- Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of product.
- Corresponds with vendors. Keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends.
- Confers with and assists the Director of School Nutrition in determining purchasing needs and specifications.
- Confers with State Department to ensure procurement process is properly followed.
- Maintains records containing copy of bid request sent, all respondents, and company bid was awarded to.
- Analyzes purchasing trends to determine if an agency contract or statewide contract would benefit the system.
- Assist Director with USDA commodity processing and ordering. Strategic Goal Area IV�Continuous System and School Improvement
- Monitor the cost and financial impact of purchases to the School Nutrition Program. OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance /timeliness
- Complete assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with directions
- Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly
- Maintain confidentiality of information and records for students and staff JOB STANDARDS (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):
- High School Diploma
- Skills in writing bid specifications
- Ability to communicate well
- Organizational skills
- Knowledge and experience of how the school nutrition operates and allowances for the use of federal funds FLSA: Non-Exempt JOB LOCATION (Place(s) where work is performed): County Office EQUIPMENT (Machines, devices, tools, etc., used in job performance): Telephone, Copier, FAX machine, Computer, Typewriter, Calculator CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE (Needed for this job specifically):
- Computer Skills � creating spreadsheets, cell formatting, formulas
- Organization skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers
