Our mobile security stack is built SDK-first: the protection capabilities that power our consumer and partner apps — secure networking and VPN, web and scam protection, device security — ship as reusable iOS frameworks. We work in a shared, co-versioned codebase consumed by native and Flutter-based apps across the platform, and we are actively embracing the future of software development, including AI-assisted coding, test automation, and intelligent development workflows.
What we're looking for
We are looking for an inquisitive, technology-driven engineer with a strong programming foundation and a genuine interest in building software that other developers depend on. SDK work rewards clean API design, backward-compatibility discipline, and an instinct for what "stable" really means. You should be eager to learn, comfortable solving problems that range from well-defined to open-ended, and motivated to deliver software that meets Bitdefender's standards for quality, performance, and stability.
Ideally, you should have
- 2+ years of software development experience, preferably building for iOS;
- Proficiency in Swift — or strong fundamentals in another language and the ability to ramp up quickly; we value having built real software and being able to read and reason about code over mastery of any single language;
- Fluency with the iOS toolchain — Xcode, Instruments, and the Simulator — and comfort profiling, debugging, and measuring what you ship;
- Experience designing or maintaining reusable components, libraries, or SDKs — clean public APIs, sensible versioning, and an eye for what breaks downstream consumers;
- Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns;
- Comfort with concurrency and synchronization — modern Swift Concurrency (async/await, actors) and/or GCD, and an understanding of the data races they prevent;
- The ability to write unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure code quality and coverage;
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control (Git);
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
Bonus points for
- Framework distribution know-how — XCFramework packaging, Swift Package Manager, binary vs. source distribution, and managing dependencies for library consumers;
- Familiarity with iOS internals relevant to security and networking — NetworkExtension, background execution, Keychain, code signing, and entitlements;
- AI-native development — AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) are already part of your workflow, with practical outcomes to show for it. Prompt engineering or agent-based workflows are a strong plus;
- A natural openness to new technologies — you enjoy evaluating, prototyping, and adopting new tools and frameworks when they earn their place;
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
- A portfolio of past projects (e.g. GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar).
What you'll do
- Contribute to the design, development, and evolution of Bitdefender's iOS security SDKs and the components that power them — owning features end to end, from public API to tests;
- Care for the contract you expose: stable APIs, clean versioning, and changes that don't surprise the apps that depend on you;
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure robust coverage and long-term code health;
- Apply AI-assisted development workflows in your daily practice — using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot for code generation, test scaffolding, and review acceleration;
- Collaborate with Product Owners, QA engineers, and other developers in an Agile Scrum environment;
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our development process.
