Project Coordinator (Marine)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Coordinator to support complex marine, offshore, and maritime operations. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving project delivery by coordinating vessel logistics, marine equipment deployment, offshore/onshore technical teams, and operational deliverables.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering, naval architecture, or nautical science, with a proven track record of facilitating multi-vessel spreads, offshore campaigns, subsea support, or specialized maritime operations.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the central point of contact to coordinate vessel logistics, marine crew rotations, offshore equipment, and communications between offshore spreads, marine contractors, charterers, and port authorities. Operational Execution: Support the planning and execution of offshore marine projects, including vessel mobilization, marine surveys, subsea/ROV support, towage, mooring, and offshore logistics campaigns.

Marine Documentation & Compliance: Manage and maintain vessel documentation, Class society/Flag State certifications, Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), Marine Method Statements, risk assessments, and vessel inspection logs (e.g., OVID/IMCA). Tracking & Reporting: Track daily vessel activities, sea-state and weather downtime, bunker/fuel consumption, and key operational metrics to prepare detailed status reports for management and clients.

Permitting & Stakeholder Interface: Proactively follow up on maritime authority approvals, coast guard clearances, port entry permissions, and technical submittals to prevent operational delays. Fleet & Spread Integration: Assist Project Managers in coordinating multi-vessel campaigns, specialized marine spreads, and offshore support assets to ensure seamless integration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline. Advantage: Master’s degree in Marine Operations, Naval Architecture, or Master Mariner / Chief Engineer sea-going qualifications (Note: Extensive, highly relevant marine project coordination experience may substitute for postgraduate/seagoing studies).

Required Experience 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience in marine operations, offshore support, or maritime project coordination. Career Progression Curve: Currently operating as a Senior Marine Coordinator or Assistant Marine Project Manager, aligning with: 0–3 years: Junior Marine Engineer / Marine Operations Coordinator 3–7 years: Marine Project Coordinator / Marine Engineer 7–10+ years: Senior Marine Coordinator / Assistant Marine PM Industry Context: Experience operating within offshore energy, marine support services, offshore wind, vessel chartering/management, or maritime consultancy environments.

Marine Domain Expertise: Direct exposure to offshore vessel operations, marine surveys, vessel mobilization/demobilization, towage, or subsea marine campaigns. Skills & Certifications Project Management: PMP certification (or actively working toward obtaining it) is highly preferred. Maritime Regulations & Standards: Solid understanding of international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), ISM Code, IMCA guidelines, and marine safety protocols (BOSIET/HUET certified is an advantage).

Software Proficiency: Hands-on familiarity with project scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project), marine tracking software (AIS), and vessel management systems. Data & Reporting: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong reporting capabilities for daily vessel logs, fuel tracking, downtime analysis, and campaign performance metrics.

Soft Skills: Exceptional coordination and interface skills to effectively bridge communication between vessel captains, offshore crews, technical superintendents, port agents, and corporate clients.
