Are you a highly driven tree care professional who excels at building client relationships but also possesses the operational grit to run a business?

Joshua Tree Experts, the premier outdoor home service company, is searching for a dynamic General Manager & Lead Sales Arboristto drive regional growth in theBirmingham, Alabama market. This hybrid role is the engine of our local operations. You will be the face of the company to our clients-diagnosing tree health, estimating jobs, and closing sales-while simultaneously acting as the General Manager overseeing the crews, equipment, and P&L to ensure those jobs are executed safely and profitably.

This is a premier leadership opportunity for an experienced Arborist who is ready to run their own book of business and lead a team of dedicated tree care and Plant Health Care (PHC) professionals serving Birmingham and the surrounding communities.

What You Will Do: Sales & Client Development

  • Drive Revenue: Actively prospect, consult, and sell tree care, pruning, removal, and PHC services to residential and commercial clients across the Birmingham area.
  • Expert Diagnosis: Conduct property walk-throughs to assess tree health. You'll need to know local challenges inside and out-from how Birmingham's red clay soil affects deep-root systems to identifying pests like the southern pine beetle and managing disease driven by our humid central Alabama summers. • Estimate & Close: Generate accurate, profitable job proposals and maintain a high closing ratio while building dense, efficient service routes.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate long-term client relationships, ensuring excellent customer service and consistent follow-up, especially when providing rapid emergency response after severe spring storms or tornadic winds. Joshua Tree Experts

  • Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor crews. Ensure climbers, groundsmen, and PHC techs are meeting production goals while maintaining the highest quality standards-whether they are rigging a massive pine over a house on a ridge or applying targeted deep-root fertilization.
  • Fleet & Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and servicing of all branch vehicles, chippers, aerial lifts, spray rigs, and gas-powered equipment to ensure 24/7 readiness for storm damage calls.

What You Will Do: Champion the Safety Culture

  • Safety First: Serve as the ultimate authority on job site safety. Enforce the use of PPE, safe drop zones, and proper traffic control measures.
  • Compliance: Lead regular safety meetings and ensure all operations comply with OSHA, ANSI Z133 standards, and Joshua Tree Experts' internal safety protocols.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Alabama Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification (or willingness to obtain) is required to oversee the PHC division.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in the tree care industry (climbing, bucket operation, or PHC), coupled with 3+ years in a sales, estimating, or operational management role.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of job costing, profit margins, and operational efficiency.
  • Communication: Elite verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with high-end clientele and diverse field crews.
