Diesel Truck Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

A well-established franchised motor dealership in Potchefstroom is looking for a qualified Diesel Technician to service, diagnose and repair trucks and commercial vehicles. The role suits a hands-on technician with solid heavy-vehicle diesel experience who works accurately, finds faults quickly and returns vehicles to customers safe and on time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Service, maintain and repair diesel trucks and commercial vehicles to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose engine, fuel system, electrical and electronic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment
• Repair and maintain air brake, ABS/EBS and pneumatic systems
• Overhaul and repair drivelines, gearboxes, clutches, differentials, suspension and steering
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and pre-delivery inspections
• Complete job cards, time recording and warranty documentation accurately
• Meet productivity and efficiency targets and keep come-backs to a minimum
• Follow workshop health and safety and housekeeping standards Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal / trade test certificate)
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience on trucks or heavy commercial vehicles
• Strong diagnostic skills on electronically controlled diesel engines
• Sound knowledge of air brake and truck electrical systems
• Valid driver's licence (Code C1/EC advantageous)
• Matric (Grade 12)
• Clean Criminal Record ADVANTAGEOUS
• Toyota / Hino truck dealership experience (strongly preferred)
• Toyota or Hino technical training and certifications
• Warranty and DMS experience
• Lives in or near Potchefstroom, or willing to relocate
