This is a standing security post located at a high-end retail establishment. Officers will be responsible for maintaining a professional security presence, controlling access to the store, and allowing customers to enter according to the client's established capacity and access-control policies. This position is well suited for active-duty police officers and retired law enforcement officers with current IROCC and other required Illinois credentials who are looking for professional off-duty security work in a premium retail environment. The ideal candidate is professional, observant, approachable, and comfortable interacting with members of the public while maintaining a strong security presence. Job Description Maintain a professional and visible armed security presence at the main entrance of the retail location Control customer entry in accordance with the client's capacity and access-control policies Monitor and manage the flow of customers entering the establishment Politely communicate with customers regarding entry procedures and store policies Observe customers, employees, and activity in and around the entrance for potential security concerns Identify and appropriately respond to suspicious activity, disturbances, or other security-related concerns Maintain a high level of situational awareness throughout the shift Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, disturbances, or other incidents in accordance with post orders and company policy Communicate with store management and Blue Line Security Solutions supervisors regarding security concerns or incidents Coordinate with Chicago Police Department and emergency responders when necessary Prepare accurate and professional incident reports and daily activity reports when required Maintain confidentiality regarding the client, employees, customers, operations, and security procedures Follow all client-specific post orders, company policies, and applicable Illinois laws and regulations Maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and customer-service standards at all times Remain attentive and professional while standing for extended periods Complete required company and site-specific training Perform additional security-related duties as assigned by management Because this assignment is located within a high-end retail environment, officers are expected to maintain a professional, polished, and customer-service-oriented presence at all times. The officer's role is not limited to security enforcement. Officers will regularly interact with customers and retail personnel and must be able to enforce access-control procedures while remaining courteous, respectful, and professional. Officers must be able to balance a strong security presence with the level of customer service expected at a premium retail establishment.

Qualifications

Qualifications Applicants must have a current or qualifying law enforcement background and be legally authorized to perform armed private security work in Illinois. Law Enforcement Background Applicants may include: Active sworn law enforcement officers Retired sworn law enforcement officers Retired law enforcement officers with current IROCC credentials Applicants must provide documentation verifying their law enforcement status, training, and applicable credentials.

Required Credentials Applicants must possess or qualify for the applicable Illinois requirements for armed security work, including: Valid Illinois PERC Card, unless the applicant qualifies for an applicable statutory exemption Valid Illinois FOID Card Valid Illinois 230 Original Firearms Training credential, or Police Department issue firearms training, or documentation of a firearms-training waiver/exemption recognized by IDFPR For retired law enforcement applicants relying on an applicable exemption or IROCC-related qualification, documentation must be provided for verification Any claimed exemption or waiver is subject to verification and approval before assignment Additional Requirements Active or retired law enforcement background preferred for this specific assignment Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a high-end retail environment Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Strong situational awareness and sound judgment Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult or stressful situations Ability to communicate effectively with customers, retail employees, management, and law enforcement Strong report-writing skills Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to follow detailed post orders and client procedures No disciplinary history involving firearm misuse or inappropriate use of force Must be able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening High school diploma or equivalent preferred
