Insurance Services Specialist - Orion Building

Location: Orion Building - 6630 Orion Drive Fort Myers FL 33912 Department: Outpatient Insurance Services (OIS) Work Type: Full Time Shift: Shift 1/8:00:00 AM to 4:30:00 PM Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $20.50 - $24.09 / hour Summary Position Summary All external candidates will start at $20.50/hourly Lee Health is seeking an Insurance Services Specialist with a strong understanding of health insurance, insurance benefits, and prior authorization processes.

This role focuses on verifying insurance coverage, interpreting benefits, obtaining medical authorizations, and helping ensure patients are financially cleared for healthcare services. We're especially interested in candidates with: Strong knowledge of insurance terminology, benefits, and coverage requirements. Experience obtaining prior authorizations for diagnostic imaging, including MRI, CT, and PET scans.

Epic electronic medical record experience (highly preferred). Experience with insurance verification and patient financial clearance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable navigating multiple computer systems, and able to manage high-volume work queues while communicating effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.

Work Arrangement This position requires an initial 12 weeks working onsite . After successfully completing the initial 12 weeks, remote work may be considered on a case-by-case basis, strictly dependent on individual performance and demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality expectations. Remote work is not guaranteed.

As the first point of access for Lee Health patients, this position completes and assists with Insurance Verification, authorizations, and financial screening to secure maximum reimbursement for the Lee Health System. It also requires excellent verbal, analytical and customer service skills due to the varying methods of continuous communication that occurs telephonically.

Requires extensive computer knowledge and analytical experience to navigate and interpret the information provided by a multitude of entities. Requires prioritization, detail orientation, organized, flexible while working within high volume work queues. This job requires the ability to understand medical terminology pertinent to obtaining the authorizations needed for services.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Clerical/administrative and healthcare experience required. Epic EMR system and customer service experience preferred. Certification: N/A License: N/A Other: Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, IT/computer proficient, basic math skills, knowledge of insurance verification and medical billing helpful.
