Shop Mechanic

We are seeking a full-time Shop Mechanic for our Sterling IL location. The shop mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial roofing equipment; the scheduling of routine maintenance; basic repair of heavy equipment, small engine repair and maintaining a clean work environment. Job Functions: Perform preventative and predictive basic maintenance of commercial roofing equipment, vehicles and heavy equipment.

Small electronic repair Diagnosing mechanical problems on equipment and performing the repair Small engine repair Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment as needed Complete maintenance and repair logs Communicate with manager on status of work Maintain and secure work tools Keep a clean and maintained work area Monitor inventory and ordering new parts as needed Ability to function on a team Creative thinking to solve the job problems Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Fleet maintenance and service scheduling Small engine repair and maintenance experience Automotive repair and maintenance experience Heavy equipment basic repair and maintenance experience In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Valid US Drivers License Strong leadership skills Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates Excellent written and verbal communication skills Diesel engine repair and maintenance experience Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred Hydraulic/pneumatic system experience Electronic capabilities Pay Rate: $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience Sterling Commercial Roofing, a Tecta America company, offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, etc.
