Aerial Fiber Technician

We are seeking an experienced Aerial Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of relevant fiber optic or telecommunications experience as well as hands-on fiber splicing experience. This position may require occasional travel.

Responsibilities Include

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot aerial fiber optic cable.
• Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Safely operate aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and other equipment used for overhead fiber construction.
• Climb and work on utility poles and other elevated structures as required.
• Perform aerial fiber drops, strand installation, lashing, and cable placement.
• Read and interpret fiber optic construction plans, maps, permits, and work orders.
• Use fiber testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
• Identify and repair fiber optic faults and service interruptions.
• Perform quality control inspections on completed fiber construction to ensure work meets company, customer, engineering, and safety standards.
• Inspect completed aerial construction for proper cable placement, sag, strand tension, lashing, pole attachments, clearances, hardware installation, and overall workmanship.
• Verify that completed work matches construction plans, prints, and specifications.
• Identify construction deficiencies, document findings, and communicate required corrections to field crews and supervisors.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that identified QC issues have been properly corrected.
• Complete accurate QC reports, inspection documentation, photographs, and other required project records.
• Verify that fiber splicing, closures, terminals, and other components are properly installed and secured.
• Review fiber test results and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Follow all company, OSHA, and job-site safety requirements.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in safe operating condition.
• Work independently or as part of a crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Required Qualifications:
• Experience operating an aerial lift/bucket truck
• Experience performing construction inspections or quality control is strongly preferred.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver fiber optic cable, tools, and equipment.
• Strong understanding of aerial fiber installation and construction practices.
• Ability to identify construction deficiencies and determine appropriate corrective action.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with customers.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet Lighthouse Technologies MVR qualifications.
• Must be able to pass a nationwide background check and drug screen.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to work at heights of 28’ feet for extended periods
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions
• Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout work shift.
