Job Summary

Instructional Assistant/Classroom Reports to: Site Administrator Classification: Classified Work Year: 181 days Salary: Range 2 – Classified Schedule GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of a Lead Teacher or Superintendent/Designee, and subject to the day-to-day direction of a classroom teacher, assists in the instruction and tutoring of students, provides support services for the assigned teacher, and performs related work as required.

Duties listed are typical, but not inclusive: Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce and support lessons in assigned educational settings. Supervise students in the classroom, in the lunchroom, and on the playground, providing behavioral guidance and correction as needed. Prepare, photocopy, and laminate a variety of instructional materials for the classroom.

Communicate regularly with the assigned teacher on student progress and educational plans and goals. Prepare targeted lessons and instructional support materials for individual students under teacher’s guidance. Prepare and maintain records of student progress under the teacher's guidance. Correct student homework, tests, and papers.

Distribute homework assignment packets to students. Record student grades, attendance records, and lunch counts. Accommodate student learning and physical disabilities in the performance of duties.
