• Kalona, IA, Salary Range: $14.50 - $23.00Hourly, Caregivers are the heart and hands of Pleasantview's Assisted Living team. We're looking for a compassionate individual who wants to build authentic relationships with residents and provide high-quality care that meets their physical and emotional needs with dignity and respect. Being a caregiver at Pleasantview requires a mix of technical ability and interpersonal sensitivity, making it a great fit for someone who wants to make a lasting impact on the lives of others. We have two positions to fill: one part-time and one PRN (as-needed).

COMPENSATION

Part-time: Hourly rate based on experience ($14.50–$23.00), plus a $2.00/hour weekend differential, and shift differentials of +$0.30/hour (2nd shift) and +$0.60/hour (3rd shift). PRN: Base hourly rate plus $1.50/hour, plus a $1.00/hour weekend differential, and shift differentials of +$0.15/hour (2nd shift) and +$0.30/hour (3rd shift).

Both: An additional $1.00/hour upon completion of a med-aide course. Overtime paid at 150% for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek.

Our recently remodeled facility includes 50 skilled nursing beds, 16 dementia care rooms, 28 assisted living rooms, and 57 independent living units. We are a drug-free workplace; employment is contingent on passing a drug test. Pleasantview is also a tobacco-free campus — tobacco and nicotine product use is not permitted anywhere on facility property, including parking areas and personal vehicles.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY Caregivers are responsible for residents' personal care and support, including help with hygiene, dressing, grooming, bathing, and feeding. Under the supervision of nursing staff, caregivers may take vital signs or carry out other health-related duties, and are responsible for monitoring and reporting any changes in a resident's physical or mental well-being to nursing staff.

Caregivers are required to complete a medication management course within their first six weeks of employment. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age or older. WORK EXPERIENCE: A genuine interest in caring for elderly individuals is required. Prior health-related experience is helpful but not necessary — extensive on-the-job training is provided. CONTINUING EDUCATION: Caregivers complete online continuing education courses and are paid for the time spent completing them.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT All requirements below are with or without reasonable accommodation. LIFTING: Frequently lift items between 10–50 lbs.; occasionally lift over 50 lbs. while assisting with resident transfers. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. is common. CARRYING: Frequently carry items between 10–50 lbs.

VISION: Must have vision sufficient to assess and respond to residents, family members, physicians, and coworkers. COMMUNICATION/INTERPERSONAL: Must maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents, families, physicians, and coworkers. OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, or crawling; standing for extended periods; small hand motions such as grasping or pinching.

Must be mobile throughout all resident areas of the facility.
