AVID Tutor

AVID Tutor Start Date: ASAP (26-27 School Year) Closing Date: Candidates will be reviewed upon submission with selection starting no sooner than five days following the posting. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been found. Part-Time: 8.5 hours per week with the potential for additional hours in the tutoring center.

Salary Range : $17.25-$24.32 per hour, per Non-Affiliated Rates of Pay Student Level: Grades 9 -12 AVID Tutor Position Summary: Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college readiness acceleration system for middle and high school students that supports student preparation for college through an academic elective course that teaches necessary learning skills, reinforces the academic core, and encourages and supports students in rigorous courses.

The AVID System annually provides more than 30,000 educators with training and methodologies that develop students' critical thinking, literacy, and math skills across all content areas throughout the entire campus, in what we call School wide AVID. General Definition of Work AVID tutors support secondary school students enrolled in the AVID elective course by providing direct, collaborative instructional support to students in tutorial groups with the assistance of an AVID elective course teacher.

AVID tutors will be active participants in the learning, growth, and personal development of students with the goal of preparing students to successfully attend college and will act as role models for students.

Requirements

Available Tuesdays and/or Thursdays during the school day. Current enrollment in college courses or Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have reliable transportation.
