Job description

The Finance Manager (CPA) is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the retail organization by managing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. The role ensures accurate financial analysis and supports strategic decision-making to drive profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial reports for management and stakeholders. Analyze financial performance, including sales, cost of goods sold (COGS), margins, and operating expenses.

Budgeting & Forecasting Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes. Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations. Collaborate with department heads to align financial plans with business goals. Accounting Operations Supervise general accounting functions including AP, AR, inventory accounting, and reconciliations.

Ensure proper recording of retail transactions, including POS systems and inventory movements. Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and statutory requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies. Implement and monitor internal control systems to minimize financial risk and fraud.

Retail Financial Analysis Analyze store-level and product-level profitability. Monitor inventory turnover, shrinkage, and stock valuation. Provide insights on pricing strategies, promotions, and sales performance. Leadership & Team Management Supervise accounting and finance staff, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in operations.

Provide coaching and professional development to team members. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Business Support Partner with operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to support decision-making. Provide financial insights to support expansion, store openings, and investment decisions.

Requirements

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field At least 5–8 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in retail, FMCG, or multi-branch operations Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and retail financial systems (POS, ERP) Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
