The Work As a Welder with Thompson Pipe Group, you will inspect, finish, and repair welded steel cylinders used in large-diameter pressure pipe applications, including water transmission, sewer, and penstock systems.

Responsibilities

Performing weld repairs to applicable specifications Back gouging and back welding Oxy-acetylene cutting Grinding and finishing welded surfaces Inspecting welds and identifying defects Measuring and documenting repairs accurately Following all safety rules, policies, and procedures Maintaining quality and production standards What You Need FCAW welding experience Ability to pass a 3G FCAW weld test with back gouge and back weld Ability to produce welds that meet required quality and inspection standards Ability to consistently maintain acceptable weld quality SMAW experience preferred SAW experience is a plus Ability to read and follow work instructions, measurements, and specifications Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment Work Environment This is a hands-on manufacturing position in an industrial environment.

The work area may be loud, dusty, and not air-conditioned. Employees must be able to: Lift up to 50 pounds Climb ladders and perform elevated work Stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods Work safely around welding equipment, machinery, and other industrial equipment The Weld Test Qualified applicants will be required to complete an on-site weld test as part of the hiring process.
