As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Business Development Manager focused on Commercial Painting Sales to expand our customer base in Minneapolis and surrounding cities, strengthen existing relationships, and drive profitable growth.
This role will also identify opportunities to cross-sell customers into FCP's other business units, including construction, facilities maintenance, and national painting programs. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys developing relationships, creating opportunities, solving customer challenges, and helping a growing company continue to expand.
You'll be responsible for new business development and account growth, partnering with clients to understand their needs and connecting them with solutions that create long-term value. WHAT YOU WILL DO
New Business Development Identify and pursue new client opportunities within target markets. Build and maintain a healthy Minnesota sales pipeline through networking, referrals, industry engagement, and business development activities. Develop relationships with key decision-makers and influencers. Qualify opportunities based on client needs, timing, strategic fit, and growth potential.
Lead prospects through the sales process from initial contact through contract execution. Client Relationship Management & Account Growth Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients. Serve as a trusted partner by understanding client goals, challenges, and future needs. Identify opportunities to expand paint services, increase contract value, and strengthen partnerships.
Generate cross-sell, upsell, renewal, and referral opportunities. Conduct regular client meetings and business reviews. Support client retention through proactive communication and responsiveness. Sales Pipeline & Revenue Management Manage opportunities through all stages of the sales process. Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and sales activity.
Prioritize opportunities based on strategic value, probability, and revenue potential. Monitor progress toward revenue and margin goals. Provide accurate forecasting and sales reporting. Proposal Development & Sales Execution Collaborate with estimating, operations, and leadership teams to develop client solutions. Prepare proposals, presentations, and pricing recommendations.
Lead client meetings, site visits, and contract negotiations. Secure profitable contracts and service agreements. Ensure a smooth transition from sales to operations once work is awarded. Market Development & Strategic Partnerships Build and strengthen referral networks and strategic partnerships. Participate in industry associations, networking groups, and community events.
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity. Identify emerging opportunities for growth and market expansion. Increase awareness of FCP Services' capabilities within target markets. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The most successful Business Development Managers at FCP: Build strong, lasting client relationships.
Create and close new business opportunities. Grow existing client accounts. Develop valuable referral networks. Become trusted advisors to customers. Deliver profitable and sustainable growth.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three or more years of experience in business development, sales, account management, outside sales, territory sales, or relationship management. Demonstrated success developing new business and growing existing accounts.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications. Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in commercial painting, coatings, construction, remodeling, facility services, building maintenance, property services, or related industries. Experience selling project-based or recurring service solutions. Proposal development and contract negotiation experience. Experience developing strategic account growth plans.
Existing relationships within commercial, industrial, healthcare, senior living, multifamily, facility management, property management, or related markets.
