Human Resources Generalist The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Human Resources, Horizon School Division is seeking a dynamic and intuitive Human Resources professional to join our team. The successful applicant will contribute to strategic HR operations, collaborative problem-solving, and ongoing divisional support.
Employment Terms, Compensation & Benefits Permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) Competitive salary, determined commensurate with education and experience (Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000) Defined benefit pension plan Comprehensive benefit package Professional development opportunities Key Roles and Responsibilities: Located within Human Resource Services, this role focuses on collaborating with team members to support the successful execution of diverse HR programs and initiatives.
The position serves as a primary point of contact, delivering timely, high-quality HR support to leadership, school administration, and employees across the division. Duties may include but are not limited to: Processing and support for the administration of employee leaves & other benefits; Processing and analysis of data as related to Human Resources; Support/schedule interviews, screens, and recruitment for entry level, professional and technical job openings; Provide support to ensure the accurate processing of employee contracts and information and the maintenance and standardization of all personnel records; Capable of handling complex and sensitive employee relations situations with confidentiality, sound judgment, and objectivity, ensuring proactive resolution and action.
Administers and oversees the division's absence management system to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and operational continuity. Assists and provides support in relation to collective agreements and employment contracts being administered and interpreted within legal guidelines and Division standards as set out by the Employer.
Builds and sustains effective labor and employee relations across diverse employee groups. Oversees division-wide adherence to contractual obligations, compensation structures, scheduling provisions, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and support the planning and organization of scheduled events; Successfully complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Successful experience working in Human Resources will be considered an asset. Technical & Administrative Expertise Technology: Advanced computer literacy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills required), Google, and familiarity with HR information systems, administrative software, and digital media platforms.
Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and documentation. Time Management: Strong organizational capabilities with a proven ability to prioritize tasks, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and consistently meet strict deadlines. Interpersonal, Service & Operational Strengths Communication & Relationship Building: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate positive, collaborative, and professional relationships with staff, management, and prospective candidates.
Client-Centric Mindset: A strong service-oriented focus, dedicated to providing responsive, supportive, and solution-driven assistance to internal and external stakeholders across the division. Onboarding & Induction: Experience or interest in supporting the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of employee onboarding and orientation programs.
Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work cohesively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure prompt, coordinated, and effective delivery of HR services.
