Job Title: Registered Nurse
- Labor and Delivery Department: Labor and Delivery Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: Full-Time (36 hours per week) Schedule: Day/Evening/Night, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday On Call Requirements: 32 hours in an 8 week time block SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. You make a positive difference every single day in the lives of our patients, their family members and visitors – going above and beyond to meet their needs with courtesy, kindness, respect and compassion. The Labor and Delivery team at RGH supports approximately 1,500 to 1,700 deliveries each year, providing comprehensive care throughout the childbirth journey, including labor and delivery, management of high-risk pregnancies, and postpartum recovery. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care for both mothers and newborns, offering routine and specialized newborn services, as well as stabilization and support for high-risk infants until transfer to a NICU when needed. Nurses will play a critical role in our fast-paced environment, where 1:1 patient ratios are common, reflecting the complex needs of our patients.
Responsibilities include
monitoring and administering high-risk medications, managing patients requiring major surgical interventions, and assessing patients in the triage area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care
- Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).
- Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
- Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.
- Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
- Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States. COMPLIANCE:
- Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
- Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- At least 6 months RN experience preferred.

- Clinical
- Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.
PAY RANGE
$38.67 - $51.92 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE. Pay is determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.
