Armed Security Officer

Location: Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 Employment Type: Full-Time Pay: $23.50 per hour Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts | 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Requirements: Valid driver’s license; must be at least 21 years old Additional Requirement: Required vaccinations, including a flu shot Position Overview Citadel Security USA is seeking a vigilant and dependable Armed Security Officer to help protect employees, patients, visitors, and staff at an assigned facility in Glenwood Springs.

This position requires sound judgment, professional communication, and the ability to respond appropriately when safety concerns or challenging situations arise. Officers provide a visible security presence throughout the shift, conduct routine rounds, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to requests for assistance.

The role may involve responding to behavioral escalations, combative individuals, emergency medical arrivals, and other urgent safety situations. Candidates must be able to perform armed duties responsibly while following applicable laws, company policies, and assignment-specific procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular foot patrols throughout assigned buildings and surrounding areas to identify suspicious activity, unsecured access points, and potential safety hazards. Maintain continuous awareness of surveillance camera activity and promptly report unusual behavior or security concerns. Respond to calls for assistance from staff and address incidents involving disturbances, escalating behavior, or immediate safety risks.

Assist with security responses involving combative individuals, emergency medical arrivals, and other urgent situations while following established protocols. Maintain appropriate control and safe handling of an authorized firearm in accordance with applicable laws, training, and company procedures. Perform scheduled rounds to provide an active security presence and identify issues that may require attention.

Inspect doors, windows, entrances, and other access points to help ensure assigned areas remain secure. Respond promptly to alarms, emergency notifications, and requests for security support. Communicate with supervisors and relevant personnel using radios, mobile devices, or approved reporting systems. Document incidents, unusual observations, safety concerns, and actions taken in clear, accurate reports.

Assist staff members with security-related concerns while maintaining a calm, respectful, and professional approach. Support emergency response efforts and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency responders when appropriate. Follow assigned post orders, facility procedures, access requirements, and Citadel Security USA policies.

Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Required Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age . Must possess a valid driver’s license . Must meet applicable licensing, authorization, and qualification requirements for armed security duties. Must satisfy the assignment’s vaccination requirements, including the required flu shot.

Ability to remain alert and make sound decisions during stressful or rapidly changing situations. Strong observation skills and attention to detail. Professional verbal communication and clear written reporting abilities. Working knowledge of security procedures, emergency protocols, and post orders. Ability to stand, walk, and conduct rounds for extended periods.

Basic computer skills and the ability to complete digital reports and activity logs. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and emergency responders. Ability to maintain firearm safety and demonstrate the required level of proficiency for the assignment. Willingness to complete required company onboarding and any applicable screening or qualification processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in armed security, law enforcement, military service, or a related protective role. Experience responding to emergencies, behavioral escalations, or other challenging incidents. Familiarity with CCTV systems, alarm monitoring, and access control procedures. Experience using operational platforms such as Track.

Tik, Belfry, or comparable reporting applications. Strong driving skills and a clean driving record. Ability to remain composed, communicate clearly, and follow established response procedures during high-pressure situations.
