Substitute Office Professional: Architect of Daily Operational Flow Location: Assigned FFSD School Site or District Facility (Placements Available District-Wide) Status: Temporary / As-Needed Administrative Support | Non-Exempt (FLSA) Work Schedule: Daily Substitute (Hours coordinated based on daily school or department needs) The Opportunity: Keeping Our Offices Moving Forward In Ferguson-Florissant, our "New Chapter" relies on seamless, professional operations across all our schools and central offices.
We are seeking energetic, adaptable, and customer-focused Substitute Office Professionals to provide vital front-desk and secretarial support on an as-needed basis. In this flexible role, you will step into various campus main offices or administrative departments to answer calls, greet families and visitors, assist with daily student records, and support building leaders.

Salary & Compensation Hourly Salary Range: $15.69 to $16.73 per hour. Starting placement within the range is based on verified prior office, administrative support, or secretarial experience.

Role Summary
The Substitute Office Professional provides temporary administrative, secretarial, and customer service support in the absence of full-time office staff or during high-volume administrative periods. Reporting to the Building Principal, Department Director, or Office Manager, you will manage front-desk interactions, direct incoming calls, assist with attendance or data entry, and maintain a safe, welcoming office environment.
Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Educationally Prepared: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Administrative Experience: Prior experience in front-desk customer service, secretarial work, or office administration (school district or public agency experience is a plus). Tech & Systems Capable: Proficiency with general computer operations, office software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office), and multi-line phone systems.
The Adaptable Communicator: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a warm, patient demeanor and the ability to adapt quickly to different building cultures and office routines. Discreet & Professional: Strict commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding student, family, and staff records (FERPA guidelines). Your Impact (Key Duties) Front Desk Hospitality: Welcome parents, students, visitors, and district personnel with professionalism, issuing guest badges and directing them to appropriate building locations.
Office Communications: Answer multi-line telephones, take clear messages, and direct incoming calls to appropriate staff members. Data & Records Support: Assist with daily student attendance tracking, registration paperwork, filing, and basic data entry in district databases. Logistical Assistance: Help sorting incoming mail, preparing school communications, and organizing administrative forms.
Administrative Operations: Support school principals, counselors, and department leads with light secretarial tasks during staff absences. Your Leadership Partners Primary Support: School Office Managers, Building Principals, & Department Directors Administrative Evaluator: Director of Human Resources / Building Principals The Logistics of Your Success Classification: Temporary Office Support Staff.
Work Setting: Fast-paced school main offices, counseling suites, or administrative facilities. Physical Readiness: Comfort sitting for extended periods, operating standard office machinery (copiers, computer terminals, multi-line phones), and occasionally lifting supply boxes up to 20 lbs.
