Substitute Teachers

Job Goal: To provide effective, research-based instruction that meets the academic and social-emotional needs of students while promoting a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture. The teacher will contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction aligned with school and district goals, and will participate in professional development and collaborative activities to improve teaching and learning.

Substitute Teachers role is to temporarily takes over classroom instruction, student supervision, and behavior management when a regular teacher is absent and use the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher Pay Range: $175 to $230 per day There are five cardinal rules that you will be expected to follow as a substitute teacher in RSU 40: 1 .

Be available: Do not place your name on the substitute list unless the school can generally expect a yes when it phones. If illness or a change in family obligations makes you temporarily unavailable, notify the school. Often, when a person refuses three times in a row, they move to the bottom of the list. 2. Recognize the importance of the job: The role of the substitute is that of a professional, you must have a sincere desire to teach. 3. Be prepared to do the job fully: Teachers are expected to do many routine things beyond the teaching of lessons, such as; cafeteria, playground, and bus duty. 4. Be professional and ethical in your relations. Substituting involves many varied situations and often more than one school. Make a practice of never comparing one school with another, one principal with another, one teacher with another, or, one class with another. 5. Never discuss school matters outside of school.
