Tween Zone Facilitator

POSITION OBJECTIVE Reporting to the Community Initiatives Coordinator , this position is responsible for helping facilitate the YMCA Tween Zone. Position is responsible for ensuring the safety of tween zone participants and YMCA members. Position is responsible for connecting with youth while still making sure that Tween Zone rules and YMCA policies and values are adhered to.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Adherence to the YMCA Child Safeguarding Policies and Procedures ensuring a safe environment for children, young people/vulnerable adults; identifying children, young people/vulnerable adults who are suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm; and taking appropriate action to see that such children, young people/vulnerable adults are kept safe at the YMCA.

Adherence to the YMCA Occupational Health & Safety Policy and accountable to work safely at all times, to identify and report hazards, to take whatever measures necessary and reasonable in the circumstances, to protect and promote health and safety. Serve as a role model to members, volunteers, staff, and stakeholders by demonstrating our YMCA values.

Understand, promote, participate and solicit others to participate in YMCA philanthropic, recognition, and awareness events and activities in the organization. Ensure Y Way Service Standards and Shine On Branding guidelines are followed and exceeded. Responsible for the implementation and delivery of Tween Zone activities.

Responsible for connecting with the youth, giving them support and a safe environment to grow. Responsible for the security of youth within the YMCA; providing guidance on behavioural issues when needed. Follow a Clean Culture and conduct spot and light duty cleaning as needed, complete cleaning (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual) checks, and ensure any other cleaning issues are addressed immediately.

Provide continual supervision in all areas of the building, including Tween Zone rooms, halls, gymnasium, locker rooms, pool. Responsible for assisting the Tween Zone team in maintaining cleanliness and organization of all youth zone areas. Assists in providing a helping relationship and intervention in crises. Provide leadership and guidance to program volunteers.

Responsible for assisting other YMCA staff when situations arise. Responsible for reporting any and all incidents to Tween Zone Coordinator/Director. Other duties as assigned.
