Role description: The BIM Manager will provide leadership for Building Information Modelling and information management across multidisciplinary projects. The role will establish and maintain effective BIM delivery arrangements, lead project teams in the production and assurance of coordinated digital deliverables, and ensure that client, Arcadis and project requirements are understood and achieved.
Working with project managers, technical leads, BIM coordinators, global delivery teams, clients and delivery partners, the BIM Manager will manage BIM strategy, standards, resources, quality and performance. The role will also support bids, client relationships, capability development and the adoption of improved digital methods across the business.
Role accountabilities: Lead BIM and information management delivery across single-discipline and multidisciplinary projects, ensuring outputs meet agreed scope, programme, budget, quality and client expectations. Develop, implement and maintain project BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, procedures, model production and delivery arrangements, information requirements and associated project controls.
Coordinate project setup, model federation, clash detection, design reviews, data exchanges, drawing production, document control and the issue of coordinated project information. Interpret client requirements and translate them into clear responsibilities, workflows, deliverables, acceptance criteria and production schedules for project teams.
Work closely with project managers and technical leads to select, plan and manage appropriately skilled BIM resources, including Arcadis global delivery teams, suppliers and subconsultants. Provide direction to BIM coordinators, modellers, designers and engineers, ensuring team members understand the project brief, standards, interfaces and delivery priorities.
Undertake or coordinate checking, verification and assurance of models, drawings and related information in accordance with Arcadis management systems, project procedures and applicable standards. Lead interdisciplinary coordination and resolve model, information and workflow issues, including differences between designers, coordinators and checkers.
Monitor BIM delivery performance, risks, assumptions, decisions, changes and dependencies, escalating material issues and implementing corrective actions where required. Promote health, safety and wellbeing, Safe by Design principles, CDM compliance and effective hazard identification and risk management throughout digital design delivery.
Build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders, communicate delivery status, manage expectations and support the timely resolution of technical and project issues. Support project commercial management through accurate scope definition, resource forecasting, progress monitoring, change control and input to invoicing and financial reporting.
Contribute BIM and digital delivery content to bids, proposals, presentations and client engagement, helping Arcadis produce high-quality, competitive submissions. Champion consistent BIM standards, templates, common data environment practices, automation and improved methods of working, including appropriate use of scripting and emerging technology.
Coach and mentor BIM and engineering professionals, support structured development and CPD, and promote knowledge sharing across teams, disciplines and locations. Maintain awareness of industry, technical and legislative developments and contribute to the continued development of Arcadis BIM capability and professional reputation.
Qualifications
& Experience: A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in engineering, architecture, construction, BIM, digital design or a related discipline, supported by relevant industry experience. Demonstrable experience managing BIM and information delivery on multidisciplinary design or engineering projects, preferably within infrastructure, energy, utilities or the wider built environment.
Strong working knowledge of BIM processes, coordinated model delivery, clash detection, model assurance, drawing production, document control and common data environments. Experience preparing and implementing BIM Execution Plans, project standards, information delivery plans, procedures and digital delivery workflows.
Proficiency in relevant BIM authoring, coordination and review applications, with the ability to develop capability across more than one software platform. Knowledge of applicable UK BIM and information management standards, client requirements, Arcadis management systems and relevant health and safety and CDM obligations.
Experience leading and developing project teams, coordinating global delivery resources and working effectively across technical disciplines and organisational boundaries. Proven project management capability, including planning, resource management, risk and change control, quality assurance, programme and commercial awareness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage clients, senior stakeholders, technical specialists, suppliers and delivery teams. Strong analytical, coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, resolve complex interfaces and deliver practical solutions.
