Day Route CDL A No weekends, Home Daily
Job description
Panama Transfer Inc. is hiring dependable Day Route Delivery and Pickup Drivers to handle LTL freight routes out of Wellsburg, Iowa. This role involves the safe and timely pickup, transport, and delivery of freight using liftgate operations, handheld scanning, and occasional 2-wheeling of freight to complete deliveries in customer areas.
Drivers will be responsible for properly securing loads, completing accurate scans and delivery documentation, and maintaining strong communication with dispatch throughout the day. Safety, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to safely operate equipment, inspect vehicles before and after trips, and follow all company and DOT regulations.
Candidates should have a valid CDL Class A (as required), a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently while providing reliable customer service on every stop. To be considered for a driver position with Panama Transfer in LTL operations, applicants are typically required to hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL , depending on the specific route assignment.
Candidates must also maintain a clean or acceptable driving record that meets company and DOT standards, along with passing a DOT physical exam and drug screening prior to hire. The ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles in accordance with federal regulations is essential. Most positions prefer drivers with at least two years of verifiable commercial driving experience , especially in LTL or similar freight environments.
Having a strong work history and safe driving background can significantly improve hiring chances. Additional qualifications such as Hazmat and Tankers endorsements are highly valued and often give applicants a competitive advantage, as LTL freight commonly involves multi-trailer operations and a variety of shipment types.
Candidates should also be comfortable performing basic freight handling tasks when needed, including moving pallets with a pallet jack, securing loads, and completing dock-related duties. Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, working in varying weather conditions, and safely completing trailer hook-ups and inspections.
Strong attention to safety, reliability, and the ability to follow DOT hours-of-service rules are also key requirements for success in this role.
