About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within various healthcare settings across the United States. This position involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being.
The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with daily living activities to support recovery and health maintenance. This role requires strong clinical skills combined with compassionate communication to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ultimately, the LPN contributes to the overall healthcare delivery by maintaining accurate patient records and adhering to established protocols and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited practical nursing program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to perform clinical nursing tasks safely and effectively. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a hospital, long-term care, or outpatient clinical setting. Additional certifications such as IV therapy, medication administration, or wound care. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Continuing education or specialized training in geriatric or pediatric nursing. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with wound care. Collaborate with registered nurses and physicians to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. Document patient information accurately and timely in medical records to ensure continuity of care.
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support. Observe and report changes in patient conditions promptly to the healthcare team to facilitate timely interventions. Skills: The required clinical skills enable the LPN to perform essential nursing duties such as medication administration, patient assessment, and basic wound care with precision and care.
Effective communication skills are vital for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure clear understanding and coordination of care. Organizational skills support accurate documentation and timely reporting of patient information, which is critical for maintaining continuity and quality of care.
Preferred skills, such as proficiency with electronic health records, enhance efficiency and accuracy in managing patient data. Additionally, specialized certifications and experience allow the LPN to provide more comprehensive care and adapt to diverse patient needs in various healthcare settings.
