Senior Platform Engineer (APAC)

About the Role

This is a contractor position through X-Team. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will support our client’s replatforming efforts by designing, building, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and resilient platforms. You will work across on-premises containerized and virtualized environments, with a strong focus on Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Git.

Ops, automation, observability, and security-first engineering. Must Have Infrastructure-as-Code & Git. Ops: Absolute requirement to manage, provision, and deploy platform workloads declaratively using Argo CD or Flux alongside Terraform , Ansible , or Helm . Kubernetes Installation & Deployment: Hands-on capability to deploy onto bare-metal Kubernetes or install and maintain Kubernetes clusters on-premises, including cluster lifecycle management and upgrades.

Linux Systems Administration: Strong Linux system administration foundation for managing containerized and virtualized workloads at scale. Timezone & Location Alignment: Offshore candidate located within a 2–3 hour time difference window of AEST (eg. Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia).

Nice to Have

Direct experience managing physical/bare-metal server infrastructure (preferred should-have, but not a dealbreaker if candidate can deploy/install K8s on-premises). Target K8s Tooling & Distributions: Hands-on experience with Rancher RKE2 , Kube. Virt (virtualization on Kubernetes), and Gateway APIs . Distributed Systems Architecture: Understanding of distributed systems design, high availability, and fault tolerance.

Telecommunications / ISP Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in telco or service-provider operational and technology environments. Advanced Networking & Service Mesh: Practical experience with container networking, BGP, Cilium/eBPF, load balancing, or service mesh (Istio, Linkerd). Automation Scripting: Practical programming skills in Go or Python for custom tooling and automation.

Observability Stack: Setup and configuration of Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Open. Telemetry, or Jaeger. Personal Traits Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. A shift-left mindset with a strong focus on security, automation, and reliability.
