Job description

The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time, board-certified pediatric classical hematologist to join the existing division of 33 physician/physician-scientist faculty, 2 research faculty and 27 advanced practice providers across sections of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation.

We are seeking a qualified candidate for a non-tenure track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank on the Clinician-Educator track. A strong interest in sickle cell disease and other hemoglobin disorders is of particular interest for this position and aligned with current programmatic needs.

Responsibilities

will include inpatient and outpatient clinical care, outreach clinics, teaching, and participation in growth of the clinical and translational research program within the section of hematology. The Section of Hematology houses nationally recognized programs in the areas of sickle cell disease and thalassemia, hemostasis and thrombosis, and general hematology and a hemophilia treatment center.

Our ambulatory activities are conducted at the main hospital and across 4 outreach sites in the Chicagoland area. The section includes 7 faculty physicians, 4 advanced practice providers, 8 nurses, 2 social workers, 3 program outreach coordinators, as well as a dedicated psychologist, neuropsychologist, a research fund specialist, and a genetic counselor.

The section also holds a large and diverse portfolio of research studies and clinical trials that are federally funded, consortium-led, investigator-initiated, and industry-sponsored, with support from 5 clinical research professionals. Qualified candidates will have strong leadership skills and the ability to work with teams on patient focused division-centric, and hospital wide initiatives.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled. The expected base pay range for this position is $180,000 - $270,000. Lurie Children’s and Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position.

The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

This position is located at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, however, applications must be submitted online through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
