Continuous Improvement Engineer
Job description
Summary The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Operations team in relation to the Steel making equipment service industry. They will be responsible for helping with process studies, workflow optimization, monitoring key performance indicators, product management, corresponding with vendors, print reading, and project management This position is onsite M-F in Pittsburgh, PA Who we are At SMS group, our people are our greatest asset.

What you'll do
Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades. Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, and line balancing. Communicate with employees and manage related projects.
Develop relationships within our workshops to help drive performance & increased efficiency Prepare equipment lists, cost analyses, and develop ROI’s for projects Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and operational utilization.
Work and consult with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or project status. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer.
Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization. Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs. What you’ll need Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Automation Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a group.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of employees. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Strong commitment to a career in engineering, operations, research & development or commercial functions. Travel to our internal workshops up to 25% of the time.
