Senior Platform Engineer (US/Canada)

About the Role

This is a contractor role through X-Team supporting a leading company in the sports entertainment and technology industry. As a Senior Platform Engineer – AI Capability Catalogue & Registry, you will build and evolve the centralized registry that enables hundreds of engineers to discover, evaluate, and reuse enterprise AI agents and capabilities.

You'll play a key role in scaling the organization's AI platform by designing standardized onboarding pipelines, metadata registries, evaluation quality gates, and adoption analytics. Your work will help eliminate duplicate AI development, improve governance, and ensure AI capabilities are production-ready, compliant, and easily discoverable across the organization.

Most Important 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or internal developer platforms supporting enterprise-scale applications. Experience building and maintaining capability registries, developer portals, API catalogs, or service management platforms using structured metadata such as JSON Schema, YAML, or OpenAPI.

Hands-on experience with AI agent architectures, onboarding workflows, tool orchestration, and evaluation frameworks such as Lang. Smith, Ragas, or Braintrust. Strong proficiency in Python or Go, with experience developing platform services, automation, registration pipelines, and API tooling. Experience working with AWS, PostgreSQL, Datadog, and modern orchestration platforms such as Initializ, Backstage, Temporal, or similar solutions.

Nice to Have

Experience with Kong AI or enterprise AI gateway technologies. Familiarity with AI governance, compliance workflows, and enterprise approval processes. Experience implementing deployment promotion workflows, versioning strategies, and automated quality gates. Knowledge of platform analytics, telemetry, and usage metrics to measure adoption, capability reuse, and execution costs.

Experience building self-service developer platforms or internal AI capability catalogs. Personal Traits Strong ownership mindset with a passion for building scalable and reliable internal platforms.
