Financial Collections Specialist

Job Summary

Northwest Career College is seeking a proactive, results-driven Financial Collections Specialist to support student account collections and payment recovery. This position focuses on direct telephone outreach, resolving past-due tuition balances, and coordinating payment collection from outside companies and agencies on behalf of students.

The ideal candidate combines strong follow-through with a professional, student-centered approach. Roles and Responsibilities Conduct frequent outbound phone calls to students with outstanding or past-due tuition balances to encourage timely payment and reduce delinquency. Review student account balances, payment histories, and collection reports to prioritize outreach and explain financial obligations.

Discuss available payment options within college guidelines, secure payment commitments, and follow up on missed or upcoming payments. Prepare and send tuition invoices to outside companies and agencies on behalf of students; follow up with those payers to obtain payment and resolve outstanding invoices. Accurately document student and third-party communications, payment commitments, invoice status, and follow-up actions in designated systems.

Meet outreach and collection performance expectations, help prevent escalation of delinquent accounts, and refer exceptions or complex matters to the Finance Manager. Experience Prior experience in collections, accounts receivable, billing, customer service, or high-volume outbound calling preferred. REQUIRED Administrative experience Skills and Qualifications Confident telephone communicator comfortable making frequent outbound calls and requesting payment.

Persistent and goal-oriented while maintaining empathy, professionalism, and positive student relationships Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities Ability to prioritize account queues, manage invoices, and follow through consistently with students and third-party payers Accurate recordkeeping, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.

Proficiency in Google Workspace and ability to learn student account and billing systems.
