We are seeking experienced, highly capable Substitute School Administrators to support our elementary, middle, and high school buildings on an as-needed daily, short-term, or interim basis. In this essential role, you will step into the shoes of a Principal or Assistant Principal to oversee daily school operations, maintain positive student discipline, support classroom instruction, and handle immediate campus needs.

Role Summary

The Substitute School Administrator provides temporary operational, instructional, and climate leadership for a school campus during the absence of a permanent administrative team member. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent or Chief Academic Officer (and working alongside building co-administrators), you will maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, supervise staff and students, resolve daily operational challenges, and uphold district policies across elementary or secondary settings.

Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Certified Executive (Required): Must hold and maintain an active Missouri K-12, K-8, or 7-12 Principal Certification issued by DESE. Educationally Prepared: Master's degree or Specialist/Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a closely related field. Proven Leadership Track Record: Prior experience as a building Principal, Assistant Principal, or Central Office Administrator preferred.

Master of School Climate: Exceptional human relations skills with proven ability to maintain strong student discipline, support teachers, and communicate effectively with parents and community members. Crisis & Operations Savvy: Demonstrated ability to handle unexpected campus situations, manage safety protocols, and make decisive, student-centered decisions under pressure.

Your Impact (Key Duties) Campus Supervision & Daily Operations Oversee overall building operations, ensuring a safe, orderly, and productive environment for all scholars and staff. Supervise key operational times, including student arrival, lunch periods, hallway transitions, and dismissal. Manage immediate facility, safety, or logistical needs in coordination with building custodial and office staff.

Student Climate & Discipline Leadership Administer building behavioral expectations using positive behavioral interventions and restorative practices. Investigate student discipline incidents, conduct parent conferences, and implement appropriate corrective actions according to district policy. Instructional & Staff Support Conduct informal classroom walk-throughs to support instructional continuity and maintain teacher engagement.

Provide immediate administrative support to classroom teachers, substitute staff, and support personnel. Community & Administrative Liaison Serve as the primary point of contact for parent inquiries, community contacts, and emergency situations during the assignment. Maintain brief daily logs and updates for returning permanent administrative staff to ensure seamless operational hand-offs.
