  • Hialeah Gardens, FL, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Land Survey CAD Technician American Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Land Survey CAD Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with surveyors, engineers, and project teams to prepare accurate layouts, grading plans, utility plans, and as-built documentation supporting a variety of land development and construction projects. If you are experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D and enjoy producing high-quality survey and construction drawings, we'd like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and modify survey and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Develop water, sewer, and drainage layouts for Party Chiefs and field crews. Prepare grading sheets and supporting documentation for field operations. Create and maintain grading surfaces from approved project grading plans. Prepare and process: Water, sewer, and drainage as-builts Utility as-builts Final grading as-builts Asphalt, concrete, rock, lake, and retention area as-builts Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure drawings meet project requirements and specifications.

Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and industry standards. Maintain and organize CAD files, project records, and drawing libraries. Update existing drawings as project information becomes available. Draft and refine survey and construction plans for land development projects. Perform calculations and drawing revisions as needed.

Conduct occasional field visits to locate grading markers, gather site data, and verify survey information. Participate in project meetings to review project requirements, schedules, and objectives. Assist with specialty drafting assignments and other surveying projects as required.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of CAD drafting experience in surveying, civil engineering, or land development preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Experience preparing grading plans, utility layouts, and as-built drawings preferred. Understanding of surveying principles, site development, and civil construction practices.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively. Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Surveying, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Bachelor's degree is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to occasionally work outdoors on active construction sites. Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate project sites safely. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to distinguish colors, markings, and survey symbols. Ability to perform occasional field verification and data collection activities.
