Junior Varsity Esports Coach

Position Overview

Mason County Central High School is seeking a supportive and enthusiastic Junior Varsity (JV) Esports Coach for the Fall and Spring seasons. The JV Esports Coach will work closely with the Varsity Head Coach to develop foundational skills in entry-level and developing student-athletes, foster team chemistry, promote good sportsmanship, and ensure a safe, inclusive esports environment.

Key Responsibilities

Focus on teaching core gameplay fundamentals, teamwork, spatial awareness, and strategic communication to novice and developing players. Practice & Game Supervision: Assist with conducting structured practices, intrasquad scrimmages, and JV league match days. Program Collaboration: Work in alignment with the Varsity Esports Coach to implement consistent team values, rules, and strategy across both levels.

Lab Maintenance: Help supervise the esports room, ensuring respectful care of gaming PCs, consoles, peripherals, and facility rules. Academic & Character Monitoring: Support student success by emphasizing academic eligibility, time management, and positive digital citizenship. Player Promotion: Help evaluate player progress and readiness for potential promotion to the Varsity roster.

Qualifications

High school diploma required. Passion for gaming and working with high school youth; prior coaching or gaming experience preferred. Familiarity with popular high school esports titles (e.g., Rocket League , Super Smash Bros. , Mario Kart ). Strong communication skills and a commitment to creating a positive, welcoming environment for all skill levels.

Ability to pass required district background checks and onboarding standards.
