Girls Varsity Wrestling Assistant Coach

A Michigan High School Varsity Girls Assistant Wrestling Coach supports the head coach in running practices, teaching wrestling techniques and conditioning, ensuring safety, and complying with Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules.

Job Description Practice & Instruction: Assist with planning and leading daily wrestling drills, technique sessions, and physical conditioning. Event & Match Support: Help coach student-athletes during dual meets, tournaments, and post-season events; supervise athletes during travel.

Safety & Welfare: Maintain a safe and inclusive practice environment; monitor weight management guidelines and injury protocols. Compliance & Admin: Adhere to MHSAA regulations, school district policies, and conference rules; help track academic eligibility and equipment inventory. Communication: Liaise with the varsity head coach, athletic director, parents, and student-athletes to build a positive team culture.

Job Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent (college degree or teaching certificate preferred). Experience: Background as a wrestler (high school, collegiate, or club) and/or previous coaching experience. Skills: Strong organizational, motivational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work flexible winter-season hours (evening and weekend matches).

Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications; MHSAA Coaches Advancement Program (CAP) levels 1 or 2 preferred; concussion awareness training. Clearance: Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting required by Michigan public school districts.
