Technician I

Job Title: Technician I Department: Public Works Reports to: Maintenance Technician Manager Work Schedule: M-F, 8 hours per day (weekends when required) Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-time Salary Range: $20.00 / Hour to $21.00 / Hour Position Overview The Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for providing essential support within the Public Works Department at The Villages Golf and Country Club.

This position assists with the maintenance and operation of community facilities, equipment, and systems, ensuring the smooth execution of various maintenance tasks and projects. Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Maintenance Services, the Technician I contributes to day-to-day operations and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.

Essential Functions

Assist with routine maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and systems. Operate and maintain basic maintenance tools and equipment. Support the inspection and evaluation of maintenance issues and report findings to supervisors. Maintain clean and organized workspaces and adhere to safety procedures. Assist with executing work orders and project tasks as assigned.

Support senior technicians and management in day-to-day maintenance operations. Participate in ongoing training and skill development related to facilities and operations. Demonstrate awareness of workplace safety practices and support organizational efforts to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors.

Note: Employee may be required to undertake additional tasks as needed or as directed, within the responsibilities of their role. Work Experience Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in maintenance, facilities, or a related field preferred. Experience using basic tools and following verbal and written instructions.

Skills Basic knowledge of general maintenance practices and procedures. Ability and willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and safety protocols. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Dependability and willingness to follow direction.

Interest in developing skills within maintenance or public works Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Requires physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.

Exposure to tools, equipment, noise, dust, and maintenance-related materials. Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check is required. Must maintain professional conduct and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and stable work environment.

Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment if driving on The Villages property.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
