Overview

The Organization & Capability Strategy Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping a future-ready operating model in Japan. Working closely with senior leadership and HR, this role will drive organization design, capability planning, and change initiatives aligned with long-term transformation goals. The position is highly strategic and hands-on, translating business strategy into effective organizational structures, strengthening capabilities, and embedding a culture of agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Strategy & Design Lead end-to-end organization design initiatives, from diagnosis through implementation and evaluation Ensure organizational structures support business priorities across commercial and corporate functions Design future-fit organizational models to support growth, new initiatives, and evolving business needs Conduct organizational assessments including workforce analysis, span of control reviews, and capability mapping Define optimization strategies related to size, shape, location, and sourcing Identify opportunities to streamline processes, clarify accountabilities, and eliminate redundancies Partner with HR, Finance, and regional/global teams to align workforce strategy and cost planning Develop implementation plans for approved organizational changes Business Transformation Support Partner with transformation leaders and senior stakeholders to address organizational challenges and opportunities Integrate organization design solutions into broader business transformation initiatives Support development of future-state operating models aligned with growth and innovation objectives Establish clear linkages between structure, roles, processes, and performance metrics Capability Planning & Talent Coordination Work with functional leaders to identify future capability needs Assess build vs.

buy decisions for critical capabilities Support talent development, IDP processes, and succession planning in close collaboration with HR Coordinate with Talent Acquisition on sourcing strategies for externally required capabilities Change Management Design and execute change management strategies to support organizational shifts Develop communication plans explaining the rationale, benefits, and impact of change Equip leaders and managers with tools to guide teams through transitions Monitor change adoption and address resistance, fostering adaptability and engagement Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate cross-functionally to co-create organization design solutions Facilitate workshops and design sessions to gather insights and validate concepts Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organization design and capability planning Build strong relationships across the organization to drive alignment and momentum Analytics & Benchmarking Use data and analytics to inform organization design decisions Develop dashboards and reports to track impact and effectiveness Conduct industry benchmarking and scenario modeling to ensure future readiness Continuously refine organizational models based on insights and outcomes Requirements Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Organizational Psychology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred) 8+ years of experience in organization design, business transformation, or strategic HR roles in healthcare industry Experience working in complex, matrixed environments Strong understanding of commercial and corporate functions Proven expertise in change management methodologies Strong data analysis and visualization capability Core Competencies Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder influencing skills Ability to manage ambiguity and drive change at pace Collaborative, team-oriented mindset Strong relationship-building across functions and leadership levels
