Facilities Maintenance

North Branford Board of Education is seeking a full-time, 12-month Facilities Maintenance person to maintain safe, clean, and functional school facilities. Salary: $26.10 � $30.82 / hour per the contract between the North Branford Board of Education and Local 1303-54 of Connecticut Council AFSCME, AFL-CIO (Custodians) Benefits: Comprehensive healthcare package and generous paid time off.

Key Responsibilities

Perform troubleshooting and basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and tile repairs. Safety & Inspections: Conduct routine preventive maintenance and equipment inspections following safety codes. Logistics: Set up and break down spaces for school activities, sports, and community events. Emergency Response: Assist with severe-weather operations (snow plowing, salting) and weekend/evening emergency maintenance.

Custodial Support: Assist with heavy floor maintenance (stripping, waxing) as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (Trade certificate preferred). Experience: 3�5 years of commercial or institutional building maintenance. License: Must possess a valid Connecticut driver's license . Trade license is a plus. Screenings: Pass a criminal, Fingerprint and DCF background checks. Physical & Schedule: Ability to lift heavy objects, work on ladders, work indoors/outdoors, and maintain a flexible schedule for weather emergencies.
