The Middle School Activities Coordinator (Intramural Coordinator) serves as the driving force behind dynamic after-school programs, intramural sports, and enrichment clubs designed to engage middle school scholars. In this vital leadership role, you will recruit staff sponsors, manage activity budgets, coordinate community partnerships, train student leaders, and ensure safe dismissals.

Stipend & Compensation Framework Compensation: Paid as an annual extra-duty stipend in accordance with the Board of Education Extra-Duty Salary Schedule for Activities Coordinators.

Assignment Details: Yearly extra-pay position attached to primary employment. Eligibility Note: Open to active building staff members holding a valid teaching credential.

Role Summary

The Middle School Activities Coordinator develops, promotes, and maintains a comprehensive after-school intramural and club program at the middle school level. Reporting directly to Building Administration , this position provides scholars with diverse cognitive and physical enrichment opportunities, maintains equipment inventory, monitors program participation, and collaborates with campus administrators to ensure smooth after-school operations and student safety.

Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Education & Certification: Must possess a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate . Organizational Mastery: Strong program organization skills with the ability to manage schedules, track activity budgets, and maintain equipment inventories. Safety & Emergency Readiness: Comprehensive knowledge of district safety drills, emergency processes, and after-school student supervision protocols.

Creativity & Positive Relationships: Demonstrated ability to design creative competitive and non-competitive programs and relate positively to middle school scholars, colleagues, parents, and community partners. Schedule Flexibility: Required flexibility with time after school to supervise activities, initial program sessions, and daily bus departures.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

  1. Program Development & Staff Recruitment Recruit, schedule, and support staff members in launching a balanced mix of competitive and non-competitive after-school programs. Maintain a comprehensive file of proposed (administrator approved and rejected) activities, cycling in new options to maximize budget efficiency if programs end unexpectedly. Partner with local community members and organizations to bring diverse external enrichment opportunities to campus. Continue to recruit staff members and schedule new programs throughout the entire school year.
  2. Student Engagement & Promotion Promote after-school offerings through daily announcements, posters, and campus communication channels. Train student leaders to promote programs and facilitate sign-ups during lunch periods. Create and manage the general after-school activities permission slip process, establishing sign-up systems and ensuring participating scholars have required permission slips to remain after school.
  3. Operations, Attendance & Dismissal Supervision Supervise the initial meetings of new programs to ensure proper setup and behavior expectations. Track attendance data for all activities, monitoring enrollment to ensure programs meet minimum capacity and communicating cancellations when needed. Partner with the administrator in charge of student services to maintain attendance records and problem-solve student issues. Meet regularly with school administration to discuss program growth, logistics, and scheduling. Assist school administration with setting up and boarding after-school buses.
  4. Inventory & Facility Management Maintain a complete inventory of school activity and intramural equipment, managing check-out and return procedures. Work Setting: Middle school campus, gymnasium, athletic fields, computer labs, classrooms, and bus loading areas. Physical Readiness: Comfort moving actively across campus facilities, organizing equipment, and supervising indoor/outdoor student activities.
