The Reading Interventionist serves as a specialized instructional leader, working with scholars in small groups or individually to help close reading gaps using evidence-based interventions aligned with Missouri Learning Standards. In this high-impact role, you will analyze diagnostic reading assessments, deliver structured literacy interventions, track scholar growth within an RTI/MTSS framework, and collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional coaches.

Salary & Compensation Structure Pay Scale & Classification: Compensated according to the Board-Approved Teacher Salary Schedule as outlined in district policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary is determined based on the employee's experience and education. Contract Terms: 187-day full-time position. Continued employment is subject to annual evaluation in alignment with this job description.

Role Summary
The Reading Interventionist plans and implements reading intervention lessons tailored to individual student needs, delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading support. Reporting directly to the Building Principal , this position utilizes diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring tools to guide instruction, collaborates with school staff to support a cohesive literacy plan, and communicates regularly with families regarding student growth and home strategies.
Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred. Mandatory Certification: Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Special Reading (K�12) . Foundational Reading Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of the Missouri Learning Standards for English Language Arts and strong experience with phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension instruction.
Preferred Training: Training in the Science of Reading, LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or other structured literacy programs preferred; familiarity with data-driven instructional models (RTI/MTSS) preferred. Professional Standards: High sense of professional responsibility, commitment to student/employee confidentiality, and strong professional communication skills with parents, staff, and community members.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Targeted Reading Intervention & Instruction Plan and implement reading intervention lessons tailored to individual student needs. Provide evidence-based small-group and/or one-on-one instruction to students identified for Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading support. Utilize structured literacy practices aligned with Missouri Learning Standards to close foundational reading gaps.
- Diagnostic Assessment & Data Analysis Use diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring tools to guide instruction and track student growth. Analyze reading data to identify students in need of intervention and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices. Maintain clear and accurate records of instructional sessions, student progress, and communication with stakeholders.
- MTSS / Data Team & Instructional Collaboration Participate in data team and MTSS/RTI meetings to discuss student performance and appropriate intervention strategies. Collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and other specialists to support a cohesive district literacy plan. Communicate effectively with families about student needs, progress, and actionable strategies for reading support at home.
- Professional Growth & Responsibilities Engage in ongoing professional development in the science of reading, dyslexia, intervention strategies, and data-driven instruction. Attend professional growth sessions to stay current with best practices in the field. Maintain professional responsibility, hold self and others accountable for student/employee confidentiality, and complete all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Your Leadership Partners Primary Evaluator: Building Principal Collaborative Partners: Classroom Teachers, Instructional Coaches, Literacy Specialists, & Building MTSS/RTI Teams The Logistics of Your Success Classification: Certified Staff | Full-Time | 187-Day Contract Calendar. Work Setting: Elementary or Middle School classroom / specialized reading intervention lab environment. Physical Readiness: Standard classroom instruction demands including standing, walking, sitting with small groups, operating technology, and managing physical/digital learning materials.
