Cook – Full-Time 81 Oaks Senior Living | Sarasota, FL Department: Dining Services Work Type: Onsite Compensation: Hourly About the Role 81 Oaks Senior Living is seeking a dependable Cook to support daily dining operations and deliver high-quality meals that enhance the resident experience. This role is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with approved menus, accommodating specialized dietary needs, and maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment.

The Cook must demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork, urgency, consistency, and accountability in execution.

Position Summary

• Prepare meals according to menus and standardized recipes
• Follow all guidelines for special and therapeutic diets
• Support timely, efficient meal service
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards
• Collaborate with dining and clinical teams to support resident needs Key Responsibilities Meal Preparation & Service
• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with approved menus and recipes
• Ensure accuracy in portioning, plating, and presentation
• Follow all guidelines for modified and special diets
• Execute meal service efficiently, especially during peak times
• Support special events and themed meals as needed
• Make appropriate substitutions and document changes as required Kitchen Operations & Sanitation
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment
• Follow proper food storage procedures (labeling, dating, FIFO)
• Monitor and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures
• Properly store and utilize leftovers
• Complete cleaning duties, including dishes, equipment, and workstations
• Operate equipment safely and report maintenance needs Teamwork & Accountability
• Work cooperatively with kitchen staff to maintain efficient workflow
• Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
• Maintain a consistent sense of urgency and proactively complete tasks Inventory Support
• Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders
• Communicate inventory needs and support ordering as directed Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of six (6) months of food service or kitchen experience preferred
• Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Strong attention to detail and food safety practices
• Effective communication skills
• Compassionate, resident-centered approach
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening
