Substitute Paraeducator

Job Description: Horace W. Porter School is seeking outstanding candidates for Substitute Paraeducators at Horace W. Porter. Duties May Include: Assist teacher to prepare and maintain written plans as needed. Assist teacher in gathering and utilizing documentation of student work.. Assist in individual pupil instruction.

Assist teacher in maintaining discipline. Assist teacher in data collection. May escort child to and from various rooms. Toileting may be required. May involve work with special/regular education student(s) under direction of a certified teacher. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Effective, active listening skills Ability to work effectively with others Organizational and problem solving skills.

Background and comfort with use of technology. Be sensitive to, and adjust as necessary to, differences among students and consider the overall well-being of the individual students. Ability to keep accurate data and reports. Ability to work well with children. Provide and maintain a safe environment in which students can learn and interact.

• High School Diploma is required The rate of pay is $125 per day. There are no benefits associated with this position.
