Eight Grade Teacher

Navigator Academy of Leadership (NAL) Location: Valrico Campus Major Function: Bring math to life by creating engaging, meaningful learning experiences that inspire eighth-grade students to build confidence and succeed! This position is responsible for delivering dynamic Pre-Algebra and Algebra instruction that strengthens foundational math skills, develops critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and prepares students for future academic success.

The ideal candidate fosters a positive, supportive classroom where students are challenged, encouraged, and motivated to reach their full potential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with Florida state standards and curriculum requirements. Teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra concepts, emphasizing foundational skills, mathematical reasoning, and real-world applications. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support individual student growth.

Monitor student progress through assessments, analyze data, and adjust instruction to improve achievement. Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment. Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and independent learning. Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, and other required student records.

Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and administration regarding student progress and needs. Incorporate appropriate instructional technology and support school initiatives, including The Leader in Me . Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and assigned supervisory duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida teaching certificate appropriate for the grade level and subject area. Strong knowledge of mathematics curriculum, instructional strategies, and differentiated learning. Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

Ability to use student data to guide instruction and support academic growth. Growth mindset and willingness to implement The Leader in Me program. Preferred: Florida certification in Middle Grades Mathematics or a related subject area; experience teaching Pre-Algebra and Algebra.
