Category Manager (General Merchandise)

The Category Manager – General Merchandise is responsible for managing diverse merchandise categories to achieve sales growth, margin targets, and efficient inventory turnover across multiple product lines.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement category strategies for general merchandise Manage end-to-end buying, assortment planning, and vendor management Analyze sales data, demand forecasts, and market trends Optimize pricing, promotions, and inventory turnover Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain for timely replenishment Manage seasonal assortment planning and product lifecycle Prepare regular performance and forecast reports for management Requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field 5–10 years experience in general merchandise retail or buying Strong understanding of merchandising principles and inventory planning Experience managing multiple categories simultaneously Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills Advanced MS Excel skills; ERP/POS experience is an advantage
