Athletic Trainers Assistants-Institutional 26-27 Academic Year

This position for Work Study for the Mars Hill Athletic Training Department provides students with the ability to gain experience in day to day activities of working in college athletics as an Athletic Trainer. Students will be given opportunities to learn various skills of Athletic Training such as: taping techniques, rehabilitation exercises, evaluation techniques, various administrative tasks, and various other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Supervising Athletic Trainer.

This position provides students with an opportunity to fulfill their work study requirements while obtaining observation hours for further education (Physical Therapy or Athletic Training). SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Practice/game set-up and take-down
• Maintenance of the Athletic Training Room
• Assisting with treatments/rehabilitation exercises
• Assist with taping and pre-practice treatments
• Assisting with coverage of practices/games
• Organizational responsibilities
• General First Aid ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manage and maintain safety for athletes utilizing the athletic training room during treatment hours.
• Manage and maintain proper protocols for all athletes in the athletic training room.
• Help with coverage of athletic events
• Supervise treatments and rehabilitation under the guidance of Supervising Athletic Trainer
• Desire to learn and implement skills associated with Athletic Training ADDITIONAL REQUIRED EXPECTATIONS
