Overview
A global healthcare company is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to lead the Japan finance function. Reporting closely to local leadership and global finance stakeholders, this role oversees the full spectrum of finance operations, including accounting, reporting, cash management, budgeting, and internal controls. Operating within a lean organization, the position requires both strategic business partnering and day-to-day operational involvement, supporting business growth while strengthening financial governance and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead monthly and annual closing processes in collaboration with external accounting partners Prepare financial reporting packages for regional and global headquarters Support statutory reporting and compliance requirements Budgeting & Financial Planning Manage budgeting and forecasting across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and business insights Support cost management and departmental spending reviews Cash Flow & Financial Operations Oversee cash management, payment approvals, and daily financial operations Ensure purchasing and approval processes align with company policies and controls Working Capital & Inventory Management Partner with internal stakeholders on inventory accounting and operational controls Monitor KPIs related to inventory and working capital efficiency Oversee AR/AP processes and support credit risk management Compliance, Audit & Governance Coordinate tax and audit activities with external advisors and headquarters Maintain and improve internal controls and governance processes Support compliance with local and global financial standards Business Partnering & Leadership Act as a strategic finance partner to local leadership Collaborate closely with global finance stakeholders and cross-functional teams Lead and support finance-related personnel in Japan Contribute hands-on across finance activities within a lean business environment Requirements Required Experience 5+ years of hands-on finance experience within multinational or foreign-affiliated companies Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management Experience working with external accounting firms and auditors Understanding of internal controls and governance frameworks Prior people management or team leadership experience Profile Hands-on and proactive, with strong ownership mindset Able to balance operational execution with strategic thinking Comfortable working in lean, fast-paced environments Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Location & Work Style Tokyo Full-time position Benefits Why This Role Broad ownership across the full finance function in Japan High visibility with both local leadership and global headquarters Opportunity to influence operational and financial decision-making in a lean organization
