Robotic Welding Technologist, Programmer, Engineer
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technologist / Engineer to lead our advanced manufacturing and robotic welding operations. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, optimizing, and maintaining our robotic welding cells—specifically utilizing Fanuc controllers. You will bridge the gap between traditional welding metallurgy and cutting-edge automation, ensuring top-tier quality, efficiency, and safety across all production lines.

Key Responsibilities
Program, troubleshoot, and optimize multi-axis welding robots using Fanuc controllers and teach pendants. Weld Process Development: Develop, write, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in accordance with AWS and ASME standards. Automation Integration: Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams to integrate new robotic cells, fixtures, and automated welding systems.
Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose weld defects (porosity, spatter, lack of fusion, undercut), implement corrective actions, and conduct rigorous root-cause analyses. Training & Support: Train operators, technicians, and junior engineers on robotic operation, safety protocols, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce cycle times, minimize downtime, and lower consumable costs while maintaining impeccable weld integrity.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Certifications: Must hold at least one of the following recognized credentials: CWI (Certified Welding Inspector
- AWS) CRAW (Certified Robotic Arc Welder) Or an equivalent industry-recognized welding/metallurgical certification. Technical Experience: Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment as a Welding Engineer or in niche roles that focus on robotic arc welding Proven proficiency in Fanuc robot programming, setup, and payload tuning. Strong working knowledge of welding metallurgy, joint design, and blueprint reading. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong cross-functional communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
