JWR Employment Specialist are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturing company in Castlebar, Mayo to recruit an IT Manager. This role is for an experienced IT professional with exceptional people leadership skills. Reporting to the Director of Operations locally and the IT Director in the US, the role will look after the IT operations in the companies’ European operations and will lead a small team locally in Mayo.
This role is a newly created position and it work closely with the Global IT Managers and foster participation in the various IT teams. It will contribute to the team by managing local IT needs, drive the Europe based IT projects and communicate status with local management. As an integral part of the IT team, the IT Manager Europe, tends to the needs of the European entities directly and does what is necessary to support ongoing growth and smooth IT operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the needs of European IT resources and employee matters. Conduct team meetings, maintain the task list, report status to Global IT Director, group managers and local management. Help expand the team as necessary to support organizational growth. Practice a practical and efficient onboarding process. Oversee local operation of support request system and maintain regional KPI’s.
Perform system administration duties of the local network. Assess, plan and manage local upgrade needs. Recommend and implement changes. Coordination of off-hours maintenance, upgrade, and support activities with Global IT Managers. Manage regional IT hardware, software (inventory and subscriptions) and cloud resource lifecycles.
Management of IT facilities such as server rooms, closets, (maintenance of AC and power systems, etc.) Maintain the local IT procedures, support, and network documentation to be consistent with Global IT operations. Support Application Development and Business Applications groups with IT resources for projects and deployments.
Participate in IT security incident response, ensure the enforcement of security policies. Actively maintain current up-to-date knowledge of key technologies. Follows news and trends of IT security events. Support IT Security projects by holding meetings and communicating risk to leadership.
Requirements
Must have a third level qualification in Computer Science or a relevant discipline with 5 years’ experience working in a similar position. Must be Fluent with MS Office/o365 software and a working knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, operating systems, and equipment as well as cloud technologies. Proven people management skills.
Project management skills and knowledge of methodologies. Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. 3+ years’ experience managing a support ticketing system and processes. 3+ years’ experience working with IT vendors. 3+ years’ experience working with software developers. Knowledge of all current meeting systems and conducting meetings.
Knowledge of the Windows and Linux Client and server operating systems. Familiarity of Microsoft server technologies such as Exchange, SharePoint, IIS Web, SSL certificates, domain management, Printing technologies and connectivity. (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.) Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud technologies such as o365 and Azure.
Understanding of Virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V), Thin clients and RDP. Networking technologies such as TCP/IP and stack, network cabling. 3+ years’ system administration experience of Microsoft Windows based environments. Familiar with Scripting languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, batch files, etc. Familiarity of Legacy software, and related technologies for more in-depth coverage.
Comp TIA or similar, Bachelor Degree or similar experience level, Fluid in English. Must have excellent English Language written and verbal communication skills.
