Location Manager

Introduction: Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply is one of the largest regional independently owned and operated Welding, Industrial, Specialty, and Medical Gases distributors in the Southwestern U.S., with locations in Gallup and Milan, (NM) Cortez and Durango, (CO). The Gallup facility is a multi-faceted operation encompassing Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply, Big Mike’s Rental, and Wilson Repair.

Role Overview: The Gallup Location Manager provides hands-on, versatile leadership across all three business units; welding/gas supply, equipment rentals, and the small engine/repair shop. Rather than requiring a technical welding or mechanical specialist, this role calls for an adaptable, operational leader who can help in all areas while driving overall store performance, customer experience, profitability, and safety across departments.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required . Valid Driver’s License required . Associate’s Degree in Business, Communications or Management preferred . 3+ years of experience in a managerial role required , ideally encompassing retail, fleet, equipment rental, or multi-department service operations. Knowledge and Skills Proven leadership experience in a multi-faceted retail, rental, or service environment.

High operational versatility with the willingness and ability to provide help across the counter, yard, and shop. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with a diverse industrial, commercial, and retail clientele. Strong knowledge of sales, negotiations, pricing, and local market dynamics. Proficient in basic computer skills, including MS office.

Ability to maintain high standards, enforce accountability, and proactively identify safety hazards. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the capacity to operate independently. Physical Requirements Standing, sitting, walking, bending, carrying items, use of hands, arms, ears, and voice. Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to talk and hear regularly. Work Environment This role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced setting encompassing a retail storefront, equipment rental yard, and small engine repair shop with continuous customer interaction. This is a full-time position requiring availability Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM, with rotational Saturdays, 8:00AM – 2:00PM.

Authority Direct leadership and management of Gallup operations across Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply, Big Mike’s Rental, and Wilson Repair. Does not have the authority to obligate FCWGS/Bubany/BMR/WRR in any contract. Does not have the sole authority to hire or fire someone. Competencies Operational Versatility Problem Solving and Analytical Skills Financial Management Team Leadership Customer Focus Responsibilities and Duties Multi-Department Operations and Oversight Oversee daily operations across all three pillars of the Gallup facility: Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply, Big Mike’s Rental (BMR), and Wilson Repair (WRR).

Act as a versatile, hands-on leader who can help wherever needed – whether assisting at the welding counter, processing rental check-outs, or stepping into the repair shop and yard to clear bottlenecks. Manage WRR billing, small engine/equipment parts ordering, and related service records to ensure accuracy and timely processing.

Oversee BMR equipment rental fleets, maintenance tracking, asset turnaround, and facility upkeep. General Store Management and Profitability Drive store operational success by managing sales, profitability, inventory turns, and expense control. Analyze business trends and implement strategies to increase cross-departmental sales, improve customer engagement, and achieve store goals.

Oversee daily retail store operations, including inventory management, shrinkage control, expense management, and payroll administration. Maintain appropriate inventory levels, accurate pricing, and high merchandising standards throughout the sales floor. Manage financial responsibilities, including cash flow, petty cash, and daily deposit preparation.

Team Leadership and Personnel Development Create a positive, respectful, and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, growth, and professional development. Lead and support the outside sales team by helping prospect new customers, develop local business opportunities, and expand the customer base. Monitor team activity, communicate performance expectations, and maintain accountability across counter, rental, and repair personnel.

Enforce company policies, conduct weekly staff meetings, store audits, and assist Senior Management with annual employee performance evaluations. Address performance concerns, provide hands-on coaching, and ensure all team members complete required safety and operational training. Facility Maintenance and Safety Compliance Maintain the store building, rental yard, and grounds according to company standards, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for employees and customers.

Enforce all company safety procedures, regulatory guidelines, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements across the shop, yard, and retail floor. Proactively identify safety hazards and communicate facility or maintenance needs directly to the General Manager. Prepare and submit required operational, financial, and safety reports to Senior Management in a timely manner.
