Lumber Yard Crew/Driver

Role Overview: The Yard Crew position is responsible for ensuring the yard and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and tidy. This role will assist in the cleaning, maintenance, organization, and inventory of all company equipment and supplies. In addition, helping with the sales, preparation in our lumber department, and deliveries.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required . Valid Driver’s License required . Must be insurable. Minimum of 1 year of experience required . Knowledge and Skills Use conversational, analytical, and observational skills that demonstrate an ability to organize and process all areas of sales. Knowledge in general lumber inventory items Skills and ability to directly interface with all members of the work force and management.

Strong commitment to customer service including positive, professional, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Maintain professional appearance according to company standards, have a positive and enthusiastic approach to work, and a strong drive to perform as a team player. Understand the importance of safety policies and procedures.

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks or assignments in a time manner, and seek additional projects and opportunities during down time. Physical Requirements Standing, sitting, walking, bending, carrying items, use of hands, arms, ears, and voice. Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75lbs. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to talk and hear regularly. Mental Requirement Language ability includes reading, writing, spelling, and the ability to orally communicate clearly on technical and business topics in English.

Work Environment This job varies from outside conditions, extreme heat and cold, high noise in certain areas, and a store environment. This is a full-time position with required availability Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM and rotational Saturdays. 8:00PM – 2:00PM. Authority Does not have the authority to obligate FCWGS/BMR/Bubany in any contract.

Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials and equipment to designated areas.

Complete required forklift inspections, before, during, and after use to ensure safe operation. Maintain knowledge of all lumber yard policies, procedures, and operational standards. Assist customers by answering questions and providing information regarding company products and services. Make deliveries and pickups using a company vehicle in a safe and professional manner while following assigned routes, delivery schedules, traffic laws, and company procedures.

Inspect company vehicles before and after use, including checking tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, fluid levels, and other essential safety components. Report any defects, damage, or unsafe conditions to the Location Manager before operating the vehicle. Monitor the condition and performance of company vehicles, perform routine upkeep within the scop of assigned responsibilities, and promptly report maintenance needs, warning lights, unusual noises, fluid leaks, or other mechanical concerns.

Maintain current product and industry knowledge through training, educational workshops, and professional publications. Ensure required employee training and safety training are completed and maintained. Promote a safe, clean, and professional environment for employees and customers. Prepare and submit required reports to management on a timely basis.

Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, and employee information. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies. Support team efforts by completing related duties and responsibilities as needed. Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
