Thrive Charter School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and student-focused High School Counselor (Grades 9�12) to join our student support team. The ideal candidate will support students' academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social-emotional well-being while fostering a positive and supportive school culture.

Position Overview

The Grades 9�12 School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting students through high school and preparing them for post-secondary success. This position provides academic advising, individual and group counseling, crisis support, and college/career planning services while collaborating with staff, families, and community partners.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic, social, and emotional development Assist students with academic planning, scheduling, credit tracking, and graduation requirements Support college and career readiness, including applications, FAFSA, scholarships, and post-secondary planning Monitor student attendance, behavior, and academic performance to provide targeted interventions Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success Participate in MTSS/RTI and student support team meetings Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling support as needed Deliver social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons and programming for students Maintain accurate, confidential student records in accordance with state and school guidelines Coordinate referrals to outside agencies and support services when appropriate Support transition planning for students entering post-secondary education, training, or workforce pathways Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling or related field (required) NJDOE certification as a School Counselor (or eligibility for certification) required Experience working with high school students preferred Strong understanding of adolescent development, college/career readiness, and social-emotional learning Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff Preferred Qualifications Experience in college advising or post-secondary planning Familiarity with FAFSA, scholarship processes, and college application systems Experience in a diverse school environment Training in trauma-informed practices or restorative approaches Strong advocacy skills for student success and equity Compensation & Benefits $62,000/year Health, dental, and retirement benefits (as applicable) Professional development opportunities Supportive and collaborative school environment focused on student achievement and readiness
